Mint condition Oris Big Crown automatic wristwatch from 2002. Lovely looking all stainless steel wristwatch with decorated dial and movement. The idea of the big crown was so that pilots could operate the watches using flying gloves so they did not have to take their gloves off to wind the watch or to set the time. This is a tradition carried on today but really more for authenticity purposes, and the big crown marks Oris’s association with air travel, and today the big crown characterises Oris watches. Oris have a long history and have been associated with quality watch making since 1904. This one is a beautifully decorated dial with a guilloché ring in which the baton markers and the numerals are placed. It has a calendar in the outer chapter and the day of the month is indicated by the large hand with the red tipped crescent. The dial is black with silver markings and hands, with luminous filled hands in traditional design. the crystal is acrylic . It has a coin edge bezel and of course, the characteristic big crown. Sweeping central seconds hand. Comes on a replacement black leather strap with the original Oris buckle. It has got a glass display back showing the decorated movement, has stopping seconds for accurate time setting.
Dimensions are 40 mm excluding crown, 44 mm including crown and 48 mm lug to lug and 12 mm thick.
